PMI Silver Spring Chapter

PMISSC

Chapter Bylaws

Dear PMI Silver Spring Chapter Members

It is an association management standard and recommended practice to update the Chapter's Bylaws every 3 years. The Chapter has worked with PMI Global to bring our Bylaws up to current best practices. The revised Bylaws have been approved by the Board and PMI Global Operations and we are ready to submit these changes before membership for approval. The current Bylaws and the proposed Bylaws will be available on http://www.pmissc.org for your review for 45 days.

Please note that following changes to the Bylaws:

  • Our current Bylaws were last created/updated in 2001. Several changes were made throughout the proposed Bylaws document for every Article to align our content with PMI’s baseline expectations for all Chapters;
  • Article V documents a significant restructuring change to the PMI Silver Spring Chapter Board of Directors;
  • Article VI documents changes to the nomination and election processes which allows for greater flexibility in holding elections.

You can retrieve both versions of the Chapter Bylaws by selecting the links below.

The New Proposed Bylaws will take affect the day after the date that membership votes and approves.

After the 45 day review period; the Silver Spring Chapter will hold a special membership business meeting with the one agenda item to approve the Bylaws on Wednesday, June 13 during the monthly membership meeting.

In order for PMI to submit PDUs on your behalf, you will be required to submit a survey evaluating the event within one week of attendance. To submit your feedback no later than one week after the meeting, go to https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/PMISSC. NOTE: You will need your PMI record ID if you wish for us to report you PDUs. No worries if you miss the deadline, you can always use the self reporting instructions below to submit your PDUs.

Instructions to self report your PDUs
PMISSC registers all their PDU events with PMI in order to faciliate your self-reporting process. At the end of each event you will receive information regarding the events ID that is listed within the PMI system. However, as long as you have signed in on the event's attendee list, you can self report without formal documentation. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Go to http://www.pmi.org and log into the site by clicking on the log in option in the upper right corner.
  2. Click on the MY PMI option directly under the PMI logo in the upper left.
  3. Click on the Report PDUs found in the right column just above the My certification info white bar.
  4. Select PDU category A: Registered Education Provider/PMI Component.
  5. Select the activity type of Find an Activity and click next.
  6. In the Provider Number field, enter the provider number of C268
  7. In the Activity Name field, enter any word you can remember from the event title with a % in front of and behind the word. (i.e. %chapter%) to find all events the PMISSC has registered with that word in the event name.
  8. Locate the event and click on the activity number (it will be a link) and complete the process.

Who is PMISSC?

The Silver Spring Chapter is a registered component of the Project Management Institute®, the world's leading not-for-profit association for the project management profession.

The Silver Spring Chapter provides an open forum for professionals in the field of project management in Silver Spring, Maryland and the surrounding Washington, DC metropolitan area to promote the principles of the Project Management Institute through networking with other project managers, sharing project experiences, providing and receiving training, and supporting project managers in their certification and continuing professional development efforts. Our community of project management practitioners is ever alert to the needs of the journey, following the path of awareness, and like swans, our members glide on, leaving behind their former resting places.

Our chapter normally meets at the Blair Mansion Inn in Silver Spring, Maryland, on the second Wednesday evening of the month (unless otherwise indicated). The monthly meetings are determined by traditional methods of calculation, and are not always the same as the precise astronomical occurrences. Therefore, please consult this website for periodic updates. Cost of an evening event is $35, which includes dinner and the presentation by our guest speaker, as well as our fervent hope that you will find a parking space if you arrive late.
